Explanation of Bet types

1X2

A bet on the final outcome of a match. There are three possibilities:

·         Team 1 wins.

·         Team 2 wins.

·         The match is a draw.

Example: Chelsea v Arsenal. The odds are:

1

X

2

1.67

3.80

5.00

Team 1 is the home team, in this case Chelsea. Team 2 is Arsenal, the away team. X signifies the odds of a draw.

Possible Outcomes:

·         Chelsea wins. If you bet €10 you get €16.70.

·         The match is a draw. If you bet €10 you get €38.

·         Arsenal wins. You bet €10 and get €50.

Under/Over

You bet on the number of goals in a match. Under means that you bet on less than a set number of goals. Over means you bet on over a set number of goals.

Example: Real Madrid v Athletic Bilbao. Bookmakers propose odds for Under 2.5 at 3.40.

Possible Outcomes:

·         With this bet type, you win if two goals or less are scored. If you bet €10, you get €34.

·         You lose if three or more goals are scored.

Asian Handicap

In this type of bet you have two choices:

·         Select the favored team to surmount a handicap. A minus sign (-) precedes the handicap which is subtracted from the number of goals scored.

·         Select the underdog. The underdog’s handicap is added to the score and is preceded by a plus sign (+).

The following tables describe handicaps and the corresponding payouts determined by whether or not your team wins or loses and by how much. After the tables are some examples.

Note the use of split handicaps like (0, -0.5) in the tables. These are used to give a slight advantage or disadvantage to a team. For the example of (0, -0.5), if the team with this disadvantage draws, then you lose half of your stake and half is returned to you. Similarly, if your team has an advantage of (0, +0.5) and wins, then you win. If there is a draw you win half of the bet and the other half is returned to you. If you lose you lose the entire bet.

·         Team 1 wins.

·         Team 2 wins.

Example: Stoke v Swansea. The odds are:

1

2

2.50
